NRA Instructor Courses

NRA INSTRUCTOR DISCIPLINES:  RIFLE, SHOTGUN, and PISTOL?

To become a certified NRA INSTRUCTOR and a BSA MERIT BADGE COUNSELOR Courses?for BSA leaders are discounted. In order to have the discount you must be registered with the?Boy Scouts of America as an adult leader, unit committee member, or merit badge counselor? and have completed the “Youth Protection Training” online. Merit badge counselors must have NRA certification to handle firearms. The Great Salt Lake Council sponsors these NRA Courses. The cost for BSA Leaders is $25 for NRA Basic Instructor course and $80 per discipline course: ?NRA Rifle Instructor, NRA Shotgun Instructor, NRA Pistol Instructor, NRA Muzzle Loading Rifle Instructor,? NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) or NRA Chief Range Safety Officer (CRSO)

??If you need NRA Basic Instructor Training, please call Bill to arrange a time to take the course?. Six or more people may register for a course not listed: ?Contact Bill Wagner at 801-971-8555. Class size: minimum of 6 and maximum of 20 so register early.?? NRA Certification fees are $30 (new instructor) for NRA Members for two years? or $50 for two years for non-NRA members.   

Annual NRA membership is available for $25. ?NRA Basic Instructor is a pre-requisite to any Firearms Instructor course and must be?completed within the last twelve months and followed by a discipline instructor course. Participants 13 - 17 years old may become NRA Apprentice Instructors,? those 18 years and older may become NRA Assistant Instructors?and 21+ years may become NRA Certified Instructors / BSA Merit Badge Counselors in Rifle or Shotgun Shooting. ??Courses not used in BSA must be scheduled with NRA Training Counselors and have a higher cost.? NRA Training Counselors may offer other NRA courses at higher cost.?

NOTE:  If you are not a BSA Leader the cost of the courses is $50 for BIT and $250 for each discipline or RSO??.

Any BSA shooting activity which includes modern firearms or muzzleloading firearms must be done at a public range,  private range, or an approved private property range and must adhere to the BSA National Shooting Sports manual.
