The Deseret Peak District (D8) is one of 20 districts in the Great Salt Lake Council. The Deseret Peak District covers all 6,900 square miles of Tooele County, Utah and serves the needs of over 3,500 youth in approximately 310 units.


NEW!!! Updated Mandatory Adult Youth Protection Training (YPT2)

ALL must take this new training by October 1, 2018

BSA’s brand new Youth Protection Training (aka YPT2) is now available via BSA’s Learn Center. It’s a great new training that ALL people interested in helping youth should take, including parents and even non-Scouters and non-Scouting families. Great new material that is very up-to date.

Here is a summary of the four modules, the course numbers and approximate run time*:

  • Overview & Policies – SCO_3001 (20 minutes)
  • Sexual Abuse – SCO_3003 (22 minutes)
  • Bullying – SCO_3004 (13 minutes)
  • YPT Certification – SCO_3007 (no time estimate)This is the test




This year as a district, you can earn the new Deseret Peak District Taining Patch. You can start collecting each part of the patch as you earn them and eventually will have a full patch that will show that you are trained and able to help the scouts.

We also invite you to join us in-person at our next New Leader Specific Training that is held in our district on September 22, 2018 to have all your questions answered and understand more fully your role in helping the boys succeed.

Do not forget about attending RoundTable each month where you will receive help, information, and additional training as well as network with other leaders in your position to find how best to encourage your scouts.



Deseret Peak Differently Abled Troop 1109
Boys, parents and ecclesiatical leaders can decide if they boy's needs are best met in the home unit, the special needs unit or a combination of both.
There is no upper age limit for participants.

Round table is a wonderful resource for adults who work in the Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Varsity Scouting or Venturer programs. Leaders learn how to conduct meetings, what to do at meetings, camping location ideas, age appropriate activities, the aims and goals of scouting and how our chartered partners (example: the LDS Church) want to implement scouting.
