High Adventure at Hinckley Scout Ranch

At Hinckley Scout Ranch, we have always been interested in making summer camps easier. For many, coordinating leaders and supplies between different age groups can be problematic. That is why the Ranch has offered a merit badge camp for the younger Scouts, a high adventure base for older patrols and crews, and a girls camp for young women who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. With this system, a group can bring all their youth during the same week, simplifying the logistics of camp.

The landscape of Scouting in the Great Salt Lake Council has changed in the last year and will continue to change as we move forward. We believe that the format of Hinckley Scout Ranch will be instrumental in supporting our units in this change.

We are excited to announce that Ridgeline High Adventure Base will be merging with East Fork Scout Camp, the traditional Scout camp of Hinckley Scout Ranch. This will not change the activities that Ridgeline has offered in the past. Instead, it will offer units more flexibility to offer high adventure options to their older youth. This way, a troop no longer needs to decide whether to organize a high adventure trip or a week-long merit badge camp.

They can now choose both by simply attending East Fork Scout Camp.

We have always believed that younger Scouts learn better when they have older youth around to mentor them. However the trick has been having enough high adventure activities to interest older Scouts to attend the same camp.

With this merger, East Fork Scout Camp will now be able to fill both needs.

Units interested in taking part in high adventure activities at Hinckley Scout Ranch can register through the East Fork Scout Camp web page. From there, they can sign up for the activities they are interested in, the same way that they would for merit badge classes.

We are excited to be able to serve more units than ever before!
