A Jambo-what?! 5 things about the Jamboral
A jamboral. But not just any jamboral; the Centennial Jamboral! Well, let me back up first & explain a little bit about it.
Here's a list of 5 things you need to know about our Centennial Jamboral.
1 | 100 Years of Scouting
Yes, yes, we are celebrating the 100 year anniversary of Scouting in the Great Salt Lake Council. There aren't many BSA councils that are about to do that. It's quite an accomplishment.
Especially considering the fact that over these 100 years Scouts & Scouters have performed millions of hours of service which in turn benefits the communities we live in which also keeps our taxes lower. I mean, that's awesome!
2 | Games & Fun For All
We are going to have more things to experience & do than any Scout has ever experienced at a jamboral before! From trading cards to darts, Scout skills to a Dutch Oven cookoff, you & your Scouts are sure to be sufficiently entertained by the end of it.
And guess what? Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, & Venturers are welcome to attend! It'll be an exciting event for all.
3 | World Record Holder, Anyone?...
Interested in crossing off that one thing on your bucket list that seems impossible to do? Participate in our Guinness World Record attempt to beat the largest game of gaga ball, the unofficial game of Scouting.
4 | Jamboral Comes From Jamboree
Every 4 years, Scouts from all over the United States gather in West Virginia at the Summit Bechtel Reserve for the National Jamboree. They play games, sings songs, participate in high adventure activities, & build friendships that last a lifetime.
But we know not everyone wants or can attend the National Jamboree
So that's why we've got the jamboral: A jamboree for all.
5 | NBC's The Voice Contestant, Madilyn Paige
For Boy Scouts & Venturers who are attending on Friday night, they'll be treated to a live concert featuring artists & performers from right here in Utah!
Madilyn Paige was a Top-20 finalist on NBC's The Voice, Season 6. Her voice caught the attention of both Usher & Shakira who were both judges on the show that season.
There's going to be plenty to do & enjoy at this year's jamboral. We hope to see you there!
