What's the Deal With Friday at the Jamboral?

Before you show up to the Centennial Jamboral, we want to make sure you have the information handy to make Friday a breeze for you. Here are a couple of tips that might help.

Arrival times

We have set up a couple of suggested arrival times so you won’t have to fight through traffic at the Jamboral. It’s set up so that those who are coming from a greater distance will have a little more time to get ready and travel to the event. We aren’t forcing anyone to follow these times, they are just a suggestion. Feel free to join us whenever works best for you.

  • 3:00- 5:00 PM- Districts 6, 14, 15, 16, and 17

  • 3:30 - 5:30 PM- Districts 7, 10, 11, 12, 18, and 20

  • 4:00- 6:00 PM- Districts 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, and 19

Unloading and Parking

With 4 different entrances and 11400 South a major rush-hour artery, traffic can be a little crazy. Luckily for us, our Jamboral Logistics team has come up with a really cool plan to make this all a breeze. Campsites will be divided up according to district and you will enter into the gate nearest that campsite. (Pictured below). When you drive in, you will be greeted by a member of the Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s service brotherhood (Just look for the white sashes). They’ll guide you to a place where you can unload your gear. After you’ve done that, they’ll show you where you can park your car and where you check in to get your Jambo swag. OA members will be scattered around the Park during check in, just in case you get lost.

What happens after we check in?

There are a couple of cool things you can do while you wait for the festivities to begin.

Trading Cards

One of them is the Trading Cards, which you will receive in your Registration Packet at Check in. Your deck of cards will only have one picture on it, one for each district. The challenge is to get a full set. If you do, you can get a special pin from the Trading Post. Rumor is that there is a special edition trading card out there and a hidden message on the back of the cards…

The Jamboral App Challenge

For those of you who aren’t taking part in the Jambo Challenge yet- do it. Download EventMobi onto your phone and search for “Centennial Jamboral”. The app will give you a map of the events, will notify you when cool things are going on, and will give you access to the Jambo Challenge.

Some of the ways to get points are through trivia, some by doing cool challenges at the event itself. Point is, you could win a drone or an iPad. It’s a win-win. The challenge wraps up at 1:00 PM on Saturday so play hard. (Youth and Adults will be competing in separate brackets, so leaders are welcome to join!)

Monkey Bridge Building

We love World Records and that is why we are going to try to build one of the greatest Monkey Bridges mankind has ever known! Is your troop full of Pioneering fiends? This is the activity for you! It’s going to be awesome, so be sure to bring lashing poles, pioneering stakes and plenty of rope. We will be assembling it starting.

The Concert!

We’re going to be holding an amazing concert at 8:00 PM. We’ve got Madilyn Page performing for us. There’s going to be some cool story tellers. There will be sweet fireworks. It’s going to be a lot of fun!
